Job Title: Support Worker for Young Adults with Learning and Physical Disabilities

Location: South Oxfordshire

Join our dedicated team as a Support Worker and play a vital role in empowering and enriching the lives of three young adults with disabilities in South Oxfordshire.

Job Overview:

As a Support Worker, you will provide person-centered care and support to three young adults with learning and physical disabilities, helping them to lead fulfilling and independent lives. This role involves fostering a supportive environment, assisting with daily activities, promoting their physical and emotional well-being, and encouraging participation in various social and recreational activities.

Responsibilities:

  1. Person-Centered Care:

    • Provide personalized care and support tailored to the unique needs and preferences of each young adult.
    • Foster a trusting and respectful relationship, ensuring the individuals' dignity and independence are upheld at all times.
  2. Assist with Daily Living Activities:

    • Assist with personal hygiene, meal preparation, medication management, and household chores.
    • Encourage and support individuals in developing essential life skills, such as budgeting, shopping, and managing personal affairs.
  3. Health and Well-being:

    • Monitor and manage the health and well-being of the young adults, including medical appointments and medication administration.
    • Encourage and engage in physical activities to promote overall fitness and well-being.
  4. Communication and Advocacy:

    • Effectively communicate with individuals, their families, and healthcare professionals to ensure the best care and support possible.
    • Advocate for the rights and needs of the young adults to ensure they are included and respected in their community.
  5. Social and Recreational Activities:

    • Plan and organize a variety of social, recreational, and educational activities to enhance the young adults' quality of life and promote social integration.
    • Encourage participation in community events and outings to broaden their experiences and networks.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in supporting individuals with learning and physical disabilities is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic nature with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety guidelines and protocols related to care and support.
  • Willingness to undergo relevant training and development to enhance skills and knowledge in the field.
